Description:
The goose-necked central hollow tube operated on by the lever linkage is the lifting shaft for an internal plunger. It allows air movement into the space "below" the internal plunger and can also be used to remove oil which seeps past the gasket in the plunger.

This patent and Stelter's subsequent improvement patent (no. 1,515,446) are noted on the RED STAR OILER.
