The present invention relates to machines analogous to drill presses, and has for its objects the following among others to enable a long and slender tool, such as a twist drill of familiar type, or other analogous tool to be employed for forming deep holes of small diameter without sensible deviation from a straight line; to effect drilling operations with greater rapidity than has heretofore been possible; to provide an improved and efficient means for lubrication of the drilling tool; and to provide improved means for securing work pieces and drills of different sizes to the parts by which such pieces are respectively carried. The invention consists in the novel characteristics contained in the means for accomplishing the foregoing objects, hereinafter described in detail, and in the underlying principles thereof and equivalents as pointed out in the appended claims.
